View Full Version : Snowdrop Is At The Bridge

Last week, Snowdrop let out a loud yelp while playing, and could not stand up. I rushed her to emergency, and they kept her in the hospital over night.
The next morning they did an MRI and discovered she had disk disease.
I was told she had a chance to survive the disk surgery because of her young age, and because both the Cushing's and Hypothyroidism was under control.
So, they operated on her last Thursday. By Friday, she developed pneumonia,
and over the weekend other complications started stacking up.
It was so heartbreaking to hear that she would never get better, and that it was her time. So, on Monday, I visited with my little Snowdrop, got plenty of kisses and I thanked her for being my precious little furgirl for 8-1/2 yrs. Then she was peacefully put to sleep in my arms.
I am so very heartbroken over the loss of my Snowdrop. She was so sweet, affectionate, and loving.
Now I have another beautiful white American Eskimo waiting for me in heaven...at the Rainbow Bridge.
*Good Night My Sweet Snowdrop!*

Ellen, I'm so sorry to hear about Snowdrop. It's hard anytime we lose a furbaby, but especially hard when it's so unrelated to all the ailments we've been treating so vigorously. It's a reminder to us all to enjoy the time we have with them because we never know when the end will come.

My heart goes out to you. What a very sad time for you. I hope you have friends and family near during the holiday season to comfort you. We'll all be here for you. You are in my thoughts.

Ellen, I am so sorry. My heart breaks for you. When I saw this, I thought it had to be some other Snowdrop. But that was not so. It really is our Snowdrop. We have traveled the cushings journey with you from the very beginning, when she dipped too low on lysodren, rebounded and then thrived with trilostane treatment. You were one of the pioneers in the US with the drug. So you not only gave Snowdrop the best possible care, you and Snowdrop paved the way for others. I can only hope that her memory, and the work that you did for others will help heal your broken heart.
Take care ~ Mary Ann

Dear Ellen,

Just as Mary Ann has said, I also was stunned to log in tonight and see your posting. I had been so glad to read your update earlier this month, and to hear that Snowdrop was doing so well. And now to have lost her so quickly. My heart just goes out to you. You have been such a caring and conscientious mom throughout these years. And Snowdrop has been such a brave little girl, helping to lead the rest of us with her treatment. Ellen, I am just so sorry that her time came so quickly. May you find some comfort in knowing that she is now released from any pain, and that she will live in your heart forever.

Please know we will always remember and honor your precious Snow Angel,
Marianne (forever Barkis' and Peg's mom)

Dear Ellen -

I'm so sorry to read about Snowdrop. You were here long before I found this wonderful place, but I've read your most recent posts, and always admired the beautiful pictures of your babies playing in the snow. I wish there was something to say that could make it easier, but I know there is not. Just know that we'll be thinking of you and praying that that your pain will give way soon to all the happy memories. Sue & Zoe

Ellen I am so sorry that Snowdrop has gone on to the Bridge. How heartbreaking to loose her to a non-Cush problem. She has been a great fighter and I am sure she is romping with Coco and the others as they wait for us. You are in my thoughts at this very sad time.

Hugs

Can't believe that 13 months have passed since my precious little Snowdrop went to the Bridge.
Sometimes the tears still come, other times, I remember her with both love and laughter. My Snowdrop was really a character with the sweetest personality. She was that once in a lifetime dog that taught me so much about life. I wouldn't trade a minute I had with her. Just wish her life wouldn't have ended so soon. I know that I will miss her for the rest of my life.

Hugs To All!

Hi Ellie -

Ah, gosh. Yes, the tears do seem to keep coming, don't they? Especially around those sad anniversaries. But as you say, the memories of love and laughter gradually surpass those sadder moments when we miss them so much. The picture of Snowdrop is still one of my very favorites in the gallery here. And then, it just dawned on me while I was reading your post, that yesterday was the 8th anniversary of the day that my once in a lifetime dog KC went to the bridge. And then the tears started - even after all this time. So I understand that the emptiness never ever fully goes away - but it does, thankfully, get easier to cope with over time.

More happy memories, fewer times of tears, but always always the hole in our hearts! Glad you stopped back by to honor your sweet Snowdrop. Sue/Zo

Ellie,

I cannot believe it either and that time passes so quickly. I think the tears will always be there as Sue mentioned. I still cry at times when I think of Mytilda - as she was my soul doggie and always will be.

What gives me comfort is that we were able to share our lives together for all those years and she is no longer in pain. The good memories I hold dearly.

Sending you tons of continued healing (((hugs)))
Always in rememberance of your Snowdrop
Terry (always Mytilda's mom)

Dear Ellen,

It is so good to hear from you again, even though you must have such mixed feelings when revisiting us :o. For my part, though, I am so glad whenever you return to talk and remember. Like Sue said, your photos of Snowdrop and Frosty remain some of my all-time favorites here, and I always think of you whenever they come up in the Gallery. Please know that you are all remembered here so warmly, and always will be.

Many (((hugs))) to you now, in loving memory of your sweet Snowdrop ~
Marianne (forever Barkis' and Peg's mom)

Hi Ellie

I know what you mean with the 'once in a lifetime dog'. And no matter if it's 13 months or 13 years ago, they still remain with us in some sort of way. Wish you all the best and hope that the happy memories of your time togehter will prevale.
all my best and kind regards from
Marja
