Hiya folks! I just have a question on more complicated web-stuff, if anybody here would happen to know.

First off, let me say that some of the places for my larger-sized pics have not been working, due to "maintenance" on that server.

I looked up "web hosting" and found many places that offer wayyy more than I would ever use for a cheap price. .... Would you happen to know of which is the easiest to use at a cheap price?

I was trying to place some camcorder-video of Rags , but those files ( ".avi") are pretty big in size. I can place a link on her yahoo site , buttttt , first I need to find a new place to put them onto to link to.
-(edited here by me) - I'm not promoting yahoo, just that it's the one I am currently using... there are others like Lycos and msn groups, or probably more... just that I don't know how to work them. )

I would be happy to offer anything I can to help you with your's.. including placing your dog's pics onto my server when I get it.... and then saying whatever might be helpfull for you to start your own free page and then to use my storage space to link to yours if you want.

I am learning more on this this stuff... slowly.... but it's all so dange confusing. Some of those ads say they have 800 MB of space or even more, for only less than $10 per month... That would be great for me! Wayy more than I'd ever use. , But I wonder how easy it is to use that.

Once I get the hang of things, .. I'd love to offer any help to you guys if anybody would be intersted, ..

Hey to Keri.... I am not going to place a site with everybodies' doggies on it... you're doing great with that. If I could help with hosting large-sized pics for you to link to, that would be great.

If anybody here knows any hints for which to use, I'd appreciate it. .. I'll repay by doing whatever I can.

Thanks a bunch! -Patrick and Rags

Hi Patrick:

Check this out for webhosting:

www.powweb.com/ (http://www.powweb.com/)

They offer the most disk space & bandwidth available for $7.77 per month, and you get your domain registered for free if you take the one year plan. A couple of sites that I have designed are hosted here and I have never had any problems with downtime. Good luck with your website and hope to see streaming video of Rags soon!

Ohh, Thanks, Mary!
"streaming" would be great!... I just gotta look into how to that! ( if you have any tips that would be great also).

rendophilous@yahoo.com

I had some overtime on my paycheck last week, so I bought two 'webhosting' places, and made a tiny donation here.
One was for 21.00 per 3 months... looks good (5000-space storage), but good golly! - this is more complicated than I thought! , but just today I DID figure how to place a picture with it.

The other was 3.75 per month, but with less space.. (100MB-storage) ... that one is not yet active.

At those prices, I could play with it to see which works better, AND to learn a bit for myself. - afterall... it's gotta be more productive than playing video games, eh?

I'll let you know, and/or post, when I get some video or pics up and ready . - So far, I just got 2 still-photos there, so I can see if it works, and just where the heck on the web they are! , Next, I'll place some ".avi" camcorder pics there.

So far, much of this whole thing is gibberish to me. ... BUT- woohoo! I DID get the still-pictures there, so the next step shouldn't be much more complicated? ... I'll just have to link to the free Yahoo site for Rags, because I don't have any way of making a site with things like 'frontpage' or whatever.

I'll look into the 'streaming' idea later, after I figure out this part.

Hey, I think I figured out some more! woo-hoo.

Gosh, this stuff is somewhat more than I understand... but it's fun learning.

I placed some camcorder movies , 2 of them, on Rags' website on yahoo. us.geocities.com/rendophi...-menu.html (http://us.geocities.com/rendophilous/index-menu.html)

On the bottom right corner is where I put those links.

I just now made a correction to it so as to say what size in megabytes that they are.

Whew! Now that I got that part figured out, I'll look into how to make camcorder vids into "streaming" ... If you care to give me any hints, I'd love it.

Hope you're doing nicely!
