I haven't been posting too much since my Sam is gone, but I do come back and try to keep up with everyone's stories...I feel like I know you all and want to know how everyone's doing.
I decided to post here because I've been following the story about Jayden and now poor Maggie and Dukie aren't doing well and I'm just feeling all the hurt.
I don't want to be glib, but to use a cliche "I'm feeling the pain" and just wanted the people going through these losses, troublesome decisions and worried nights that they're not alone...I think we all understand and can appreciate and be sympathetic to what they're going through.
I still get overwhelmed with sorrow when I think about losing my Sam (it's not to the point of being debilitating or where I need professional help, so don't worry!) but he was just so much a part of my life and so loved...when I hear about other people going through the same thing, I just feel SO MUCH empathy toward their situation...
So there...just a little note from me for what it's worth.

Hi Valerie; thanks for posting and what you said means a lot. I'm sorry about Sam too. This grieving process is never easy. People keep saying that it will get easier with time, but time is making my heart ache more coz I miss Jayden soooo much! :( I know you miss Sam too. Can you send me a picture of him? I'd love to post it as a memorial. You can send it to kkwalker@shaw.ca (kkwalker@shaw.ca).

Thanks again.

Keri (& Jayden in spirit)

I copied this from a post that Ellen had. It's such a nice poem, I hope she doesn't mind. I'm going to copy it and put it up on the fridge and every day I feel despair, I'm going to read it.. and know Jayden's in a better place.

From Your Pets in Heaven
To have loved and then said farewell is better than to have never loved at all.
For all of the times that you have stooped and touched my head,
Fed me my favorite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you......
For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly...
For all of these things I am grateful and thankful.
I ask that you not grieve for the loss but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and
touched each other's lives. My life was fuller because you were there --
not as a master/owner, but as my friend.
Today I am as I was in my youth. The grass is always green, butterflies flit among
the flowers and the sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures.
I can run, jump, play and do all of the things that I did in my youth.
There is no sickness, no aching joints, no regrets and no ageing.
We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know that togetherness is forever.
Companions such as you are so rare and unique.
Don't hold the love that you have within yourself;
give it to another like me and then I will live forever.
For love never really dies, and you are loved
and missed as surely as we are.

I'm going to light a candle for Maggie tonight, right beside Jayden's. Our thoughts are with you Jeanie.

I'd like to start a grief support topic here. It's very hard to say good bye to beloved friends that share so much of our lives with us.

Please come back just to chat and we'll all do our best to give you a "shoulder" to lean on in your time of need.

As you all probably know I lost my 9 1/2 yr old Terripoo December 1, 2003. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him and wish I had just one more chance to hug him, hold him and tell him how much I love him.

I made a memorial page on my web site at www.geocities.com/kerwalk2001/ (http://www.geocities.com/kerwalk2001/) and welcome you to send me your pictures to add to it if you so desire. This web page I made is for any of our furbabies where Cushing's touched their lives in one way or another.

Best wishes for you all always,
~ Keri

Valerie it is so good of you to come and support those of us who still have our companions. Believe me I know how you are still hurting and missing Sam, so your comments here will be well received:D

Hi Susan; Thank you for your e-mail. How are you? How are things going at the Humane Society? Have you decided to volunteer?

Thinking about you always,

~ Keri
