We suspect that we have a good number of folks here who read the messages regularly but who don't post very often. Maybe that's because their dogs are doing well and they don't have any questions to ask, or maybe they don't feel very comfortable about posting answers to other members' questions.

It's perfectly understandable and acceptable for folks to only post here once in a while, but when we don't hear from people, many of us find ourselves wondering what those folks have been up to recently and how their dogs are doing.

"Checking in" is a topic that we start on the first of each month, where folks can post a reply to let everyone else know how they are doing. You may just want to say "Hi! We're still here and we're doing fine" or you may want to tell us more -- about a really good test result, or something funny that your dog did recently, or a camping trip that you went on ... that sort of thing.

We'd love to hear from you! :)

Hey; Just a quick note. Miss Nike seems to be doing OK. For the last couple days I have noticed that her water uptake and peeing is getting a little more again. I am thinking maybe she has a UTI again. I am watching her, she still wont eat her food unless I put something good in it, then she hoovers it down, so she is just spoiled. She has been getting on my nerves, and that is a good thing, with wanting to play, she keeps bringing her toys, bones, etc and putting them in my lap. :)
We will be getting re-tested in a couple more weeks, to see where we are with the maintanance.
Good luck to all the others going through this same thing, and thanks to all for their help and support
Sharon, Nike and Kenai

I am still checking in on an almost daily basis :) I do not currently have a Cushpup - Coco is at the Rainbow Bridge, but I do have a Wire Haired Fox Terrier called Zedley. Zedley is a 3 year old rescued pooch, and has become a much loved member of my household. I try to help when I can, and welcome new members of this fantastic support group.

Hugs
Loraine (Coco's Mum forever, Zedley's new Mum)

Hello to all: Well Angel had a Low Dose Dex test the first of May. The vet said that she does not have cushing. I would like your (all of you) advise and thoughts. Here are her numbers Pre Dex 134 and 4hr post <14 and 8 hr post <14. She still drinks quite a bite of water, there are no potty accidents in the house. Her belly is starting to come back alittle. Could be she eats too much :o . Her meds are still Marin and now Denosyl.

Angel is adjusting to not seeing. The other morning she had gone outback to potty. She went over to an old shop vac. sitting on the patio. She was going crazy trying to open it. Well the roofers were here and one of them looked inside and there was a 4to5 foot snake inside it. Her sense of smell is great ;).
By the way the roofer said it was a chicken snake and he let it loose in the woods behind the house. So I would say Angel will be finding that snake again.

Hi All

Pugsy has just had his 30 day ACTH Stim, Glucose Curve, Fructosamine (sp?) and blood pressure done. Just to update some that didn't follow story...Pugsy was diagnosed a few months ago with Cushings and most likely had it for approx. a year or more. He has complications such as diabetes and hypertension as a result. He had severe skin sores and hair loss and had lost approx. 5 lbs prior to diagnosis.

I am glad to say that after this last test he is maintaining well with the cushings, he has gained weight back, his hair is now coming in, the sores have totally healed..yet his skin is still healing. The tests for the diabetes have shown that we can start decreasing the insulin, although we will continue with blood pressure meds (in hopes that they will decrease soon too). AND......no more diapers! He is back on his normal schedule.

So for all of you on this forum going through the same........we are here to say....there is hope....hang in there!

I can't say it enough, if it wasn't for this forum, we may have never found the fine doctors and the courage that we now have to help our Pugsy.

We are back from vacation and Skipper is doing fine. He and his bro loved walking in the woods at Lake Placid, NY. I now call Skipper - "The Lion King"
because of his wild red coat. Still not able to get pictures on. As soon as we have a little more time, we will try again. Mary Ann and Skipper
