I just want to thank everyone here for the kindness and support I was given. My sweet Phoenix died this morning. Phoenix was my best friend, he was part of me - He went into a coma last night and stayed in my arms until daylight. I don't know if he knew I was there, but feeling his warmth gave me the strength to be strong for him. Again, thank you all.

Dear Lisa,

I could hardly believe it when I read your post about Phoenix just now. This is so not fair and I am truly sorry for your loss. I'm glad that you were with your sweet boy though, holding him close to you in your arms all night. I'm sure there is no place on Earth he would have rather been than with you.

Just recently you said: "The good news is that right before he started to backslide, he was like his old self - he started playing again, barked when people made too much noise, and started doing the great boxer wiggle butt again." Even though his recovery was too brief, he did feel better for a while and it was you who made that time possible.

I know that Phoenix was your "heart dog" and that you will miss him terribly. No matter how long they live, it's never long enough, but please try to hold on to the memories of all the good times you shared with each other, the unconditional love and the laughter. Phoenix is safe in your heart now, forever.

Lisa, I could not believe what I was reading as I read the devastating news about Phoenix. My heart is breaking for you and I am so very, very, sorry. I have no words that can ease the pain and heartache you have, but please know I share in your grief over losing your precious Phoenix. It was so plain to see how very much you loved him and how you tried with all your might to make him better and he knew that too. He was your heart baby and now he is home forever in your heart.

May God surround you and your family with a comforting love to help you in this time of such deep sorrow.

Love and {{{hugs}}}

Thank you for your very kind words. From all indication, it appears as though something terrible happened in my boy's brain - possibly/probably a brain edema. I will not allow a necropsy to be performed - I want my boy to be at peace. I wanted you to know this because I don't want anyone that receives the news that they're dogs have cushings, to feel that there is no hope. What happened to my sweet boy had nothing to do with his dx of Cushings. My home is very empty and my heart is very heavy - I will cherish each memory of Phoenix every day.
Phoenix - I miss you so much - thank you for teaching me all of life's little lessons that we humans sometimes miss. Be at peace now dear friend - you'll have lots to show me when we meet at the bridge.

Dear Lisa,

I am so shocked to hear the sad news about Phoenix. I almost couldnt believe it when i saw you had posted something in this section. I rarely read what gets posted in here because i cant bear to think of what it must feel like to lose your fur-baby.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss. To lose two dogs within weeks of each other must be absolutely heartbreaking and my heart and thoughts go out to you and your family.

I hope that it is not too long before you can think of Phoenix and have a smile come to your face instead of tears welling in your eyes.

Jo & Caesar.

Lisa,

We are so very sorry for your lose of Phoenix. I have been away for a bit and returned to see your post of the 16th. My heart really goes out to you! It will take awhile to sort out your feelings about what happened. You really loved Phoenix and I think in the end all of our fur babies know this.

Take care of yourself ((((hugs))))

Dear Lisa,

I just saw your post on our "Remembering" thread, and wanted to tell you how glad I am that you came back to visit us once again. It is hard to believe that it has been over a year now since you lost Phoenix. Even though there are so many painful memories, I hope it is comforting that some of your memories are now bringing you smiles. As you have found, your sweet Phoenix will always be honored here. And any time you feel like dropping by again, we will be so glad to "see" you.

With many ((((hugs)))) in memory of your sweet boy,
Marianne (forever Barkis' and Peg's mom)
